Construction is ramping-up at Ballymore with a first look at where spectators will take their seat in the new National Rugby Training Centre (NRTC) to witness a wide range of sporting events at the world-class facility.

The new McLean Stand is taking shape thanks to approximately 57 ton of structural steel put in place by leading contractors Buildcorp to provide the framework of the grandstand.

Working from the northern end nearest to Enoggera Creek down towards Butterfield Street, roughly half of the precast seating plinth has also been installed.

The new McLean Stand will have capacity for 3010 spectators – more than the ageing stand it replaces, and will allow Ballymore to once again host Queensland Premier Rugby Finals, as well as Wallaroos Tests and other events such as soccer.

Elsewhere on the site, the main suspended slab has been installed with approx 450m3 worth of concrete and 25 ton of reinforcement steel to keep it all in place. While underneath the Level 1 slab more than half of the formwork has been removed allowing work to commence inside the building.

September is set to see even more transformation with the installation of the roof trusses, as well as the completion of the seating plinths and concourse slab.
